In Reply to: Microdermabrasion- Does it Work? posted by Cory on November 12, 2000 at 21:03:51:

Hello! In my opinion, 'micro'dermabrasion is best for speeding up the healing and fading process of the "red" scars (which are really just discoloration or hyperpigmentation). These scars normally fade away over time, but could take as long as a year!. I do feel that micro treatments speed up the process a bit if you are willing to spend a bunch of money for it! :(

I have had four treatments so far and with each one I could see immediate results. My skin felt softer and smoother. The red discoloration and freckles were much less visible than before. Some deeper scars were even improved.

You may want to read a very detailed article on acne scars and treatments by Audrey Kunin, M.D. The site I am looking at with this article sells things, so I cannot post the link here. But if you search for

"audrey kunin m.d." acne scars

you will be able to find it. The site says that the info is not allowed to be reproduced in any way or I would have pasted the info here, but they do provide a link that says we can email the page to a friend. So, if you can't find it and want me to email it to you, I can do that.

Let us know if you decide to try any of the treatments and how they work for you.
: I am seriously considering having microdermabrasion done. I have a few deeper scars, and many scars that are not so deep but still very noticeable. Please, anyone tell me your experience with this procedure.
