Hi Steve - hang in there. I was exactly where you were now a couple of years ago. I completely felt like I was in a whole and utterly alone and miserable. I despised myself and thought everyone else did because of how incredibly disgusting my skin was (and how yucky I think it is now). I definitely suggest going to a good dermatologist because to be perfectly honest, the main way my self-esteem went up was when my skin cleared up. When your skin starts to heal and actually feel less itchy and painful, your attitude will pick up too. I think that maybe seeking therapy for depression might help - although I know that might be hard to do - the last thing you want to do is have a shrink stare at your skin while you talk about how much you hate your skin. If you decide not to go to theraphy, I just beg you to force yourself to believe that things will get better and that you are too worthy of a human being to let acne take your life away. Everything has it's time and place - you will see the light at the end of the tunnel and there'll be an incredible woman waiting for you.
