My son is only 5 years old and has been on adderall for about 1 1/2 years he lives with his mother his side affects are he acts very out of mind most of the time, he has headaces every day almost, he doesn't eat very well and is very skinney, his eye's when (you talk to him) jerk up and to the right all the time, he gets very whinny more often, He has "to me and my wife" a much harder time trying to understand what we are telling him. Those are just a few of the side effects that we are noticing. Now for my coments..... We are extremly upset with this drug and his mother for putting him on it. The difference in his "HYPERACTIVITY" as most people call it. Is night and day between his fathers house and mothers house. In that respect. The parents should try to spend more time trying to help him develop better listening skills, and try to get his attention in other ways, Other than "medicating the children in order to get them out of there hair." We have not had good expieriences with the drug. and most docters say that they don't want to prescribe this drug, unless you have tried every other thing you can think of. We should all think of the kids, and what kind of long term affects this "miracle drug" could have on them. Thank you for reading my coments. If I have help one child then it was worth wrighting. PS. I am currently in a custody battle to try to help my son. I have won the first of two battles with it. and my concern for the medication is one of the reasons why I am winning.: : : My 7-yr old son has just been diagnosed with ADHD and his neurologist has suggested adderall. I am looking to find out side effects and actual effects of this medication before I decide to use this med. He has never used anything before. He is a good student now, but he is very, very hyperactive and impulsive. He does not know what he is doing half of the time.
: : : Please let me know of personal experiences with this medication so I can start to make a decision.
: : : Thank you

: : My daughter was just started on adderall about a week ago. She has taken several meds in the past to help her stay focused and calm down a bit but none of the meds have worked- all had awful side effects. Now she is on 2.5 mg of adderall. What I am noticing is she is a little and when I see little, I mean little calmer. The one thing I do not like though and I am not sure if it is related to the adderall though, it seems as though at the end of the day she is overly hyper (when meds have worn off)

: I am an adult and have been taking Adderall for about 9 months. Could not use Ritilan because of rebound but I do not have any with Adderall. You do have to watch out for dry mouth and dental/gum health. Does last longer and less obvious at onset. Delay time for me is about one hour before it begins working. Lasting 5/6 hours.
