: I have not heard of constipation as a side effect. Actually, I have heard that loose stools are common. Abdominal pain is very common and perhaps this is being mistaken as constipation?
: Also, ritalin causes appetite loss and changes in nutrition and diet can lead to the constipation. She should be eating lots of fruits and veggies and high fiber. Instead of lactulose I would recommend talking to a nutritionist first. If the mother was talking about colon cancer she must have been looking at all the possibilities for the child's constipation, maybe there is some sort of gastrointestinal problem that she has that is also causing the constipation.
: Do you have your own doctor that you take her to?
: Do you now get copied on all of her medical records and doctor visits? Even as a non-custodial parent you are entitled to these documents and you can go to your local family court and file a motion on your own (without the expense of a lawyer) to make sure you get all of this (school records, also). Has your daughter gone to therapy at all?
: I am sorry to hear about the brain tumor, that must have been very frightening for all of you.
: I do urge you to seek more opinions before going with one doctor or with one CPS workers assumption. I would strongly urge you to go to the MAMA website and read up on some of the shocking misrepresentations of the disorder, and the tragedy that can result from wrongfully accusing someone. is the location.

: Louisa J. Lasher was employed by the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) for approximately ten years when she left her position in August 1997 to devote herself full time to Munchausen by Proxy (MBP) training, case consultation-technical assistance, expert witness work, and writing projects. A unique aspect she brings to the MBP field is a combination of extensive MBP knowledge and experience as well as expertise with regard to other kinds of child maltreatment and state child welfare agency issues.
: During her last four years with Georgia DFCS Ms. Lasher served as a State Office Consultant and as State Office Medical Liaison - providing child maltreatment training, consultation, and technical assistance to various agencies and organizations throughout Georgia. Activities during the final two years of her employment with Georgia DFCS centered on MBP training, case consultation-technical assistance, and expert witness testimony. Other experience with Georgia DFCS included experience in "placement" and "treatment" units and four years as a Child Protective Services (CPS) Investigator. As a CPS Investigator, Ms. Lasher was involved in a wide variety of child maltreatment cases and was particularly skilled in child sexual abuse investigations including child/adult interviewing and video taping. Ms. Lasher has had extensive investigative as well as case planning/case management experience which included guiding complicated child abuse investigations, ensuring that case plans were written with appropriate goals and objectives relative to the type of maltreatment and case findings, and reviewing case records to determine adherence to policy, procedures, and good practice regarding investigation, assessment, case planning, and case management.
: Ms. Lasher has been involved in over 225 suspected or confirmed MBP cases, is a member of the International Munchausen by Proxy Network, chaired the first known roundtable of national MBP experts in 1995, and wrote the proposal for the APSAC (American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children) Factitious Disorder by Proxy Task Force. She has presented numerous skills based MBP educational programs and has been involved in many MBP cases throughout the country. Ms. Lasher is presently working with her co-author, another leading MBP expert, to complete a skills based MBP book (for which they have a contract with a major educational publisher).
: Good luck.
