: Dear All,

: I want to thank you all for posting your battles with Darvocet on the board. I, too take Darvocet for two conditions - sciataca, and TMJ. I've been very lucky. I've always kept my usage to no more than 2 tablets per day. I've never taken as much, or more than what has been prescribed. In turn, I'm able to get refills with no problem. The reason I thank you all is this - Seeing how easy it is to become heavily addicted, I really watch myself. You all have shown me how easy it is to keep upping usage, until you cannot go without it. You've scared me. That's a good thing. I don't take it everyday, even when I really need it. I'm letting my body feel pain, because I know it'll worsen if I keep dulling it with Darvocet. I wish you all luck with your battles, and I'll keep you all in mind before I "pop another pill".

Hi Victoria;

What a great posting. I too take strong pain medications and 'allow' myself to take it a maximum of 3 days a week for the same reason. also only take enough to dull the pain down by 75 - 80% so i know the med is going to work only on the pain. I have been going this route for only about 6 months - before I had felt that I had the right to take as much as i wanted to be pain free and did keep increasing my dosage even without my Dr.'s consult - and I find that it works much better for me. The meds that I do take are far more productive this way as well.

I shall be thinking of your posting the next time I reach for pain medication.
