: : I am a 25 yr old male - healthy and strong. About two years ago I could drink until I threw up, stop and remember everything the next morning.

: : Nowadays, I have a few drinks and can't remember anything in the morning. I am worried that it may be getting worse. Apparently I don't do anything extra ordinarily when I am drunk - but I can't remember it the next morning. I know alcohol has an effect on the hippocampus (sp?) which controls memory but I didn't realise this was a cumulative effect. Any info, advice would be appreciated.
: : Cheers (oops)

: Sounds like you have been hitting the alcohol way to hard in the past and it has already started to take it's toll on you. Alcohol tends to kill your brain cells and with the memory loss you are expierencing already I think you have already done some damage. Whether the damage will ever repair itself I don't know. My spouse has been in your shoes excpet his memory loss is not of what happened the night before his is of things he should remember like everyday events or appointments etc. Give the alcohol a rest and see what happens. If things don't clear up then you may want to see the doc about this. Alchohol has long term side effects and damage.

I am 27 and have a similar problem. I am usually quite a passive person, but If I drink way too much, I apparently become violent with my boyfriend. He had to hold me down till I stopped punching and I have absolutely no recolection of it. It scares me!
