: At this point orthopaedic surgeons have recommended an arthoscopic cleaning out of the hip joint area and they clain that this should increase mobility and lessen pain. Please give your opinions of weather this would work, if anyone thinks this is the first correct step to take and does anyone know of anyone else that has had this procedure and then played tennis or a similar moderatly impact sport after this procedure. Please offer your opinions back.

From the age of 18 to 30 I spent a lot of time bouncing thru the woods on my dirt bikes and I pretty much beat the heck out of my hips, knees and ankles. At the age of 45 I began working out at a local health club and I lost 25-30 lbs. and generally began to feel better. But, I still had a lot of joint pain, irritability and limited mobility. At the suggestion of one of the staff I started taking the yoga classes. After 2 1/2 years I don't think I'll ever stop taking them. All of my pain has gone and I have really increased my flexibility. It's probably the best thing I've ever done for myself. I am also taking Glucosamine/chondroitin and a calcium and magnesium supplement I got at wal mart so maybe that helps too. You might try these non surgical methods before you start slicing and hacking on yourself, assuming you're not in chronic debilitating pain. Good Luck.
