Depending upon what kind of eating patterns you have right now, it is possible that just a change in diet might lower your BP enough to put you back closer to normal. For most Americans, that means less junk food, lower fat meats, often less meat, increased consumption of fruits and vegetables, and a change from refined flour products to whole grains. Check out the information on the DASH diet at the link below and see if there are changes there that you could make.
