    GERD? any advice helps.

Hi, I'm actually posting for my husband as he has health anxiety and is avoiding his triggers.

He has been experiencing really bad acid reflux since December, 24 hours a day.
    His symptoms include:
    stomach pain,
    Non-frequent bowel movements,
yellow tongue and painful tongue and mouth,
    weird taste in mouth,
chest pain (heart issues already ruled out) and
Short of breath (lung issues already ruled out)

He has been taking ranitidine and lansoprazole 2 times per day. His symptoms are still unbearable. He's had an endoscope and the gastro stated in the report that he has gastritis, but nothing else. Would any of you think it would be related to GERD or gastritis? If anyone has experienced anything like this, have you gotten better and how did you treat it?

He's also on a very bland diet.

Thank you in advance for any help.

He has to do an additional test which is phmetry impedance test because he may have bile reflux not acidic and in this case prazole and antacids aggravate the problem.
Yellow tongue i think it's bile.. bile often causes gastritis and in this case doctors prescribed carafate in order to protect the lining of stomach. ranitidine and prazole only lower acid stomach nothing else
    I am a patient not a doctor

I've been a GERD sufferer for the last 3 years.

Tell your husband to raise the head of the bed several inches.

Don't eat 2 hours or so before bed.

Eat 5-6 smaller meals and don't overeat.

Best of luck to you and your husband.

First I would like to thank all of you for responses and advice. He has been doing the small frequent meals, raising bed for sleep , etc.

He saw a gastro today and there hasn't been any damage done yet, the doctor said he sees evidence of stress, so he needs to de-stress. He being taken off of his current medication and being put on carafate and amitriptyline. He's being tested for celiac and H. Pylori (we know he has IBS - forgot to mention that, but doc wanted to make sure about Celiac)He has a follow up in 3 months.
