Reflux is a mechanical issue based on the functioning itself...releasing stomach acid into the esophagus. Some medications cause higher acid levels in the stomach causing the said stomach acid to be more corrosive and damaging to areas where it shouldnt be.
So...if you have reflux, best to take a med such as a PPI to help lower the stomach acid so it doesnt cause as much pain or damage.
Have you had an upper endoscopy?
Look up foods that cause high acid, and avoid them to see if that helps. Try Pepcid AC if you dont want to venture into PPI territory. I would avoid the Pepcid AC Complete as it has aluminum in it (personal preference avoidance).
