Wondering if it would be ok to just take the max dose of Maloxx everyday forever? I am just really trying to avoid long term use of the ppis. Maloxx sorry for the spelling does pretty good when I take the max daily dose.

    Hello.

I have had GERD, sometimes severe acid reflux, for 10 years. My gastro doc told me there is no harm in using Maalox. However, I would be cautious using it every day cause it will cause diarrhea. If you do end up taking a PPI, my gastro doc said to separate the Maalox from the PPI by 2 hours, or the Maalox will cancel out the PPI you take. Try eating small meals throughout the day to help reduce the GERD attacks in the first place. This does seem to help me. I was also told by many that probiotics like yogurt help - it's the "good" bacteria for the intestinal tract. Hope this helps.
