Excess Acid due to taking Whey Protein

Has anyone who has acid reflux thought that it might have been caused by taking whey protein? When I started taking whey protein, it seems like that is when my stomach problems started which turned out to be excess acid. I have what is called "silent" acid heartburn, belching, etc. Makes my stomach ache around the navel area at night...or that is when I notice it most.
