Arrow LPR. GERD. Realistic Ideas. Ugh.

    Background Info:
Ok, going to be straight up. I'm 24. I have no job for actual good reasons (I promise, has to do with divorce and moving like 3 times). Anytime anything is wrong with me I have to self diagnose myself because I have no way of going to the doctor. I have no insurance. I have no money. I also don't have a driver's license (another legitimate reason I promise).

    The problem:
I have LPR like symptoms. The interwebz has pointed me in this direction. Just going off my own list of symptoms, it's:
+It all started one day with a cold, felt like something was caught in my throat, never went away.
+I used to smoke pot pretty regularly for a long time since 17. (I stopped when all this happened, so about 5 years)
+Feels like there is constantly something in my throat. All day and night.
+My voice is raspy, I only just talk in a higher pitch to avoid it.
+Swallowing is weird, feels like I have to tilt my head up to swallow effectively.
+I don't think I have ever felt heartburn before(I'm aware that you don't get heartburn with LPR. I did my homework on this, trust me)
+After I eat I'm constantly clearing my throat.
+I've never really had any pain.
+Once upon a time when I was willing to accept my debt, I went to an ENT who had 0 interest in me who put a scope up my nose and down my throat and said he didn't see anything and had sexy vocal chords (he said they were actually a text book case of healthy vocal chords. My humor with words here keeps me from freaking out and crying all night). I was supposed to go back to do a barium swallow but my husband at the time kept telling me it was in my head.
+At this particular moment, my throat burns when breathing. When I cough it doesn't hurt, only when I breathe and breathe deeply. This may be unrelated.

It has been about 2-3 years now. I'm not sure if I should start this whole acid-free diet thing, buy some Prevacid or Prilosec, and go that route. Going to a free clinic won't help, they don't do what needs to be done for this kind of thing. From what I read, it appears normal and experienced doctors barely know about it, so I have my doubts about the doctors that wear jeans to work (not against those doctors, just, happened to get "treated" by one once that had no idea about laryngitis, something that I had). Oh, tried going to the hospital around 5 times. Always get the answer that they don't have that equipment there to see those sorts of things or deal with them. They just take x-rays and send me on my way with a $1000.98 bill every time.

Honestly, I read that getting cancer from LPR is extremely rare, and one time a doctor told me (I told her "what if it's cancer or something?") that she was pretty sure I don't have cancer because my symptoms aren't getting worse, or better, and the reason cancer is so deadly is because by the time the symptoms really start shining; it would be obvious that is what I had. Comforting, kind of. I just wish she would have applied all those years in medical school in to diagnosing me and actually doing something (this was after my ENT visit). She provided me Prilosec(keep in mind this was about 2 years ago) "just incase" or as I'd believe "just 'cause". I finished the box and that was it.

So does this sound like LPR to you guys? And if it is, what should I do? I can't go to a specialist. I'm 24 now and I'm trying to get my life back on track having left my husband. Also I applied for Medicaid, but I doubt I'll get it seeing as:
"Medicaid provides low-cost or free coverage for low-income children, young adults under age 21, parents, pregnant women, caretaker relatives, people who are blind or disabled and those age 65 or older."
I am not a mother, nor disabled, and I'm only 24. And though cancer is rare, I kind of don't want to give it the chance to turn into it. It's already gone on long enough.

What options do I have? Because right now I feel like it's try the Prilosec thing and stay on it for about 5 months and await possible improvement, or, hope I don't die. If the Prilosec thing fails, then I only have the Hope I Don't Die option left...
