my sisters derm

my sisters derm has her 2 kids...the boy is 13 and the girl is 15 on accutane.he prescribed the boy accutane in low doses......i think she said 20mgs a day.....without any blood work.he quit taking them until his skin started breaking out the other day so he started taking them again.then my sisters derm said he has never had to give a patient more than 3 courses of she says hes one of the best derms in philly.she graduated from college and is home schooling the kids.i think she should be educated about derms because i dont think with hes doing and telling her that after 3 courses of accutane everyones acne never comes back is a bunch of bullcrap.

Re: my sisters derm

I think you need to be leary of any doctor who makes promises. I first questioned my derm's expertise when he prescribed accutane to me and completelly minimized the seriousness, side effects, when he prescribed it not as a last resort and when he told me how rare it is to even have to go on accutane twice. he wrote the prescription and was out the door in 2 minutes. I chose not to fill it and am doing vitamins/herbs, new skin care (mainly glycolic acid products) and yasmin bc--and ya know what--it has all cleared me up way better than the worthless antibiotics he prescribed me for years that made me worse. it is a slow process though and not a quick fix to try non-medical methods--ive been doing this 8 weeks.
