retin a question for Deedee
Hello Deedee, I've read all your posts on retin a. I hope you don't mind answering a few queries I have.

I'm currently using retin 0.05% gel (not micro) and I have 99.9% clearance all of the time. (I used to have some cystic acne.) I've been using retin a for 6 months and no longer get dry red patches. Infact my skin is oily now ,which I don't mind so much.

What I'm wondering is will I get even better results with 0.1% retin a and should I switch? I know sometimes people start on the lower doses and gradually increase.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Re: retin a question for Deedee
yeah, I'd like to know too Deedee! My son is using the .04 RAM, and I was wondering should he go up to a stronger 1% after a few weeks as his skin gets used to it. He has been using it for 7 weeks, the first 2, every other night. He's also using benzaclin and minocine. He's still getting a few pimples here and there, nothing really major.

Nomoreacne: I don't think Deedee comes on too often, (since her acne is under control). We'll just have to keep bumping this up until she notices!

So, it sounds like your son is doing well on the Retin-A? If so, I'm so glad!

hey coloradogirl!
He's been using the RAM for 7 weeks. The breakouts have not been bad at all, probably thanks to the other meds he's using. He still gets a few pimples every few days. Sure wish the RAM would help with that in the next few weeks!

Just wondered the same thing Nomoreacne was about maybe getting even better results with the 1%.

How's things going with you?

Re: retin a question for Deedee
Well, I'm pregnant and the first two months I was more clear than I had ever been in my life. Now I'm breaking out again. I can't use the Retin-A anymore because vit. A could be toxic to the baby. So, I'm starting to think that maybe the Smoothbeam was actually working, but because I didn't finish my treatments, it didn't last as long as it should. I don't know - my hormones are probably going crazy right now.

As for the Retin-A - I find that the general rule for acne is that less is more. I always wind up messing my face up because I think that something is working and if I just apply more of it, or use a stronger version that it would work better or faster. The truth is that acne remedies are SO SLOW and if you see any improvement, I would stick with that for a while.
