I read that the reason this causes acne is because when you dry out your skin, your oil glands start producing more oil and this oil has to come out through your pores, which could cause them to get clogged and may cause more acne.

Isn't that horrible? All the products we try to use to help fix our acne problems have potential to actually make it worse. So yes, while washing your face daily is a good thing, washing ten times a day is unfortunately just way too much of a good thing. When I was younger (10-12) and first started getting acne, I would wash my face any time I thought about it - which was way too much for my poor face.

I've found that when my face feels oily/dirty during the day, blotting it with oil-absorbing facial papers works well. That way my face has the excess oil removed, but it isn't too dried out. Then I just wash at night.

    Good luck!

If you wash too much you wash away all the oil on your skin which can make it start to flake. Flakes are not good and will clog the pores. If you look at your skin and see any dry white patches at all, then your face is too dry! Try washing less or using more moisturizer.
