I definitely have hormonal acne. I'm 38 and still get it, especially on my chin and jaw line. They usually crop up about 2 weeks before my period, then start to go away really fast once I've started.

As far as a cure...I haven't found one yet. All I do is use more benzoyle peroxide products on that area when the breakouts start and try, try, try NOT to touch my face AT ALL (which is really really hard for me).

If you find a cure please be sure to let us all know!!!

Also, drinking lots of water will help.

The only plausible cure for hormonal acne is to go and get your hormones tested at an endocrinologist's office. If it actually is a hormonal imbalance, your test results will signify exactly what is wrong... then the doctor will more than likely perscribe an antibiotic to regulate the levels of your hormones... I have had to do this once before... I am a pre-med student and I want to go into the field of Dermatology... I strongly believe that all acne is a hormonal disability... if you are of an unusual age to be having such problems that is... I believe that acne is not a big deal throughout the teen years... due to so many physical changes... but once these changes have occured and one is still experiencing the repercussion of acne... I definately believe that this is completely because of imbalanced hormones. So go get your hormones tested... it couldnt hurt.

I had a hormonal imbalance.. it really just depends on what your problem is. In my case I had elevated levels of DHEA Sulfate...which is a male hormone. The doctor wrote me a perscription for Deltasone which basically regulates the amount of DHEA Sulfate that your adrenal glands secrete...

My dermatologist told me I have this problem. I started getting clogged pores, mostly around my chin. Did Deltasone help you with acne?
