For the girls: TriNessa any good?????

I was perscribed regular Ortho Tri-Cyclen by my gyno in December, but, was given a generic, TriNessa 28, by the pharmacist (because of my insurance). Saving the $$$ is good, but I have heard that generics aren't as good as the regular version. Is this the case here? Personally, I think anything would be better than OTC Lo for my skin, but I want to make sure I am not wasting my time. Any good/bad opinions compared with regular OTC?? Thanks in advance!

I'm using Ortho-tri-sprintec, which is generic OTC. It's been working great along with retin-a and doxy. I've been on the meds for a little over 5 months now and my acne is 95% gone.

I'm glad you are having success Peachy! Were you on any other birth control pill before you started generic Ortho Tri-Cyclen? I am using Differin Cream, Klaron, and Spiro, but they haven't been effective because of OTC Lo breaking me out. Hopefully TriNessa 28 will have better effects with my other meds. Any other opinions about generic OTC?

Re: For the girls: TriNessa any good?????

I have tried lots of different bcp's and even the depo-provera shot. In fact, about a year ago, I thought that maybe it was the bc that was causing my acne so I stopped taking them all together. BAD mistake! That made my acne even worse, so after about 6 months I started back up on the generic OTC and the retin-a/doxy and I'm SO happy with the results so far.

Re: For the girls: TriNessa any good?????

Different brands seem to work differently for everyone. My daughter was on generic Tri-Nessa and regular ortho-tri-cyclen because I thought it would work better. Neither of them worked for her and made her acne very bad. She stopped after 4 months on both of them. Then everything that was on her face from the birth control pills exploded in the initial outbreak on accutane. It was not a good time for her. I've read where some people like the regular ortho better than the tri-nessa but I'm sure that varies from individual to individual also. The only difference is some fillers are different. The hormones are exactly the same.

Re: For the girls: TriNessa any good?????

Thanks everyone for the advice/opinions. I am going to try the TriNessa for a couple of cycles and see how things go. I have to go back to my gyno sometime in March so that he can do another breast exam (1-2 weeks after my period), so if I have any problems, I will see if there is something else I can try. I will keep everyone updated....I am just excited to be DONE with Ortho Tri-Cyclen LO after waiting it out for 11 months!!!!!!
