2.5 months update.... :)

Ello friends....

Haven't been here for a while because I've been away and just busy with some other stuff... anyway for those who remember me, I have now taken Spiro, cyperterone, and metformin for almost 3 months and I have to say my skin is almost flawless!!! My skin's not perfect yet but pretty close (I have really sensitive skin [the translucent type] and all I have to worry about is just the red marks from before.... my period's a little strange (one day periods) but my endo says it's nothing to worry about cause it might be just my body adjusting to the meds; he said if my periods are still funky in a few months than he has other magical stuff that he can give me to regulate the Ps besides BCPs. I can eat all the junk food I want now and I will not break out!! if I do break out it's just a little bump which I can easily cover up with makeup!!! but I do watch the sugar because I do notice sugar will give me a few tiny whiteheads if I have too much...

Hi Sky -

Glad you are having success! How many mg/day of Spiro are you taking? I am only on 50mg/day, so I haven't seen very much success yet. My derm started me off at 25 mg and wants to move me up slowly...such a pain to wait it out! I have never heard of the other medications you are on, why, exactly did you get prescribed them?

Re: 2.5 months update.... :)

I started taking Spiro without the other stuff (200mgs) a day and it did nothing for my skin. I went back to my endo and he gave me cyperterone acetate (the same stuff in Diane-35) at 50mgs twice a day. I'm taking Metformin because I have glucose intolerance and I used to feel sick everytime after I eat but now I'm pretty normal if I don't go and over-indulge on really sugary foods. Anyway, Cyper started working around week 3 (my skin was pretty normal-dry by then, I still broke out but I knew it was working) and then I added spiro back into my meds because it's a diuretic; diuretics are used to remove surplus fluid from the body's bloodstream or tissues. Spiro really helped with the water retention that I was mildly getting from cyper. Spiro didn't do anything for my skin after 5 weeks and my endo says because I wasn't even mildly showing improvements after 5 weeks it would do nothing for me....I taking 100mgs of Spiro once every night long have you been taking spiro? I know it works wonders for some people, I just don't understand why some doctors prescribe it in such low doses; my endo told me it's a really really safe drug that is usually prescribe for high blood pressure!!!
