Hey everyone. Well I have been viewing these boards for quite some time now. I am a 25 year old female with mild acne, mostly at it's worst around "that time of the month." That leads me to believe that my acne is hormonal. I have never tried the pill or anything like that. My skin isn't too bad, I tend to break out the same areas, but I do often get large, painful bumps that take FOREVER to surface!!! I am pretty good with my makeup and from what I am told am a very attractive person, but as you all know, life would be SO much easier without the acne!!

A couple of weeks ago, I started to really doubt all the so-called treatments for acne. I refuse to pay a ton of money for antibiotics and I really don't want to go on the pill for other non-acne related reasons. I started getting skeptical - what if some other product can help w/ acne that is meant for something else? Call me crazy, but I am also experimental and not afraid to try new things, so, yes, i washed my face with toothpaste!!!! LOL. I don't think just any old toothpaste will do, I used the Aquafresh extreme clean kind. Let me tell you, it has been about 2 weeks and I have NO new bumps, the acne that was on my jawline is GONE or almost gone, and my skin is SOOOOOOO smoothe!! Granted, I'm sure I will get arguments about the alcohol in toothpaste, etc, but so far, this is something that has worked for me, and I am going to continue to use it. In about a week is when I would normally start to break out and when my skin normally looks it's worst, so I will keep up with this and hope for the best!!! Sometimes I think that just because a product is intended for one thing, that doesnt mean there arent a million other uses for it! Think about it......I will keep you posted on my progress...and here is my full skin care/makeup routine for anyone who is curious:
Morning: have been cleansing w/ the aquafresh extreme clean (my skin feels SOOOO good after!!!); moisturize with "Skin Milk" lotion; use a light foundation (cant remember the brand, I think it's maybelline, will check); cover with a light layer of Clinique bronzer
Evening: wash with toothpaste; apply Neutrogena benzoyl peroxide spot treatment
Weekly/bi-weekly: use Aztec secret clay mask

That's it. If anyone else is willing to give this a try, I'd love to discuss more!!! Good Luck!!

Re: Toothpaste!

hey kristin, glad you found something that works for you. just don't use the blue gels, or keep them on for too long. there was a big stink about toothpaste shrinking zits when i was in high school, so i gave it a try w/my gel paste overnight-- ended up with a BLUE scab that lasted for a coupla mortifying days. *lol* yeah, it's funny now, 15 years later...
