will viatmin a 10,000 iu decrease my oil production?

hi, i think i have the real oily skin that i dont get because of my face being dried up so much. anyways, i was thinking of taking vitamin a 10,000 iu per day. do you think it will decrease my oil production? or how 'bout putting it directly on my face?

i know this is the recommended iu, but what side effects do you think i can get?

your help would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks.

    I don't know..I'm guessing not though.

I am also very oily and I want to decrease mine as well.

What do you do for your oil during the day (blot, wash, leave it)?

I'm starting a new job and I wont be able to blot that much so i'm kindof dreading that aspect. I'll be working in a Vets office and the lights are so bright (medical lights) ...You will be able to see all my yucky oil...

    I need help as well

I would imagine if you take enough of it it would help with oil production, as this is what Acctuane is pretty much and it compeletly stops oil production. However, I would be careful not to take to much without a doctors consent.

You have to take about 250, 000 iu daily for at least a month to see results. I did this several years back and by 6 months, I was clear. My skin was dry and I got some headaches but no serious side effects. I will say, this isn't necessarily recommended but for me it worked without any trouble, though it is said excessive vitamin a can be toxic. I have done this vitamin a therapy off an on for the past couple of years. It works like accutane. You can find info online that will contain the warnings and such. I recommend you do the research before trying this, but yes, it works.

I took 25,000 iu's of beta carotene every 2-3 days for a while. I did seem to dry out, but I can't tell you for sure if it was the beta carotene or not...it could've been something else that I was doing. However, I did quit taking it because my eyelids started to peel and get kinda sore..and of course there's also the possibility of slight hair loss in some people. Anyhow, I haven't been breaking out as bad lately, just have a lot of scars to get rid of.

i wipe my face with the blue paper by clean & clear. it works really good but my oil comes back like 30 mins after.

i just started taking 10,000 iu vitamin a yesterday and i'll up it to 20,000 iu maybe next 2 weeks. i did a research and i read alot of positive effects. i also read that they took 50,000 iu a day for months without any side effects. but i'll just take 20,000 to 25,000 iu max.

i did a research and they said that beta carotene isn't effective as vitamin a. it doesn't help acne at all. 25,000 iu of beta carotene isn't pure as vitamin a and it really can't get that amount of iu when it gets in your body.

do not overdose on vitamin A!
it is very toxic to your liver
to reduce oil , wash your face with BP, that dries your skin out

Well, I guess that would explain why I still had acne then...
