    Lightbulb Aspirin Mask- THE Formula

    Just wanted to shareÖ.
Iíve been reading the Aspirin Mask thread. I had never heard of it before and wanted to try it out after everyone said it worked so well. As most of you know it dries really fast then becomes flakey. So, Iíve been experimenting with it. I donít have much trouble with acne on my face but my back gets terrible this time of year. After trying several things that didnít work I think Iíve found the prefect mix.
After letting the aspirin dissolve in a little water, I added shampoo. But not just any shampoo- Dermarest Psoriasis Shampoo. It worked GREAT!
After only one used my back has cleared about 65%! The shampoo has 3% salicylic acid so it ďpumps upĒ the aspirin. Probably wouldnít recommend it for someone with sensitive skin and I havenít tried it on my face yet (which is obviously more sensitive than your back). But the results were impressive. Took away all redness. Stopped several pimples before they started. So, hope that helps someone.

i've never heard of that shampoo. is it something you can buy at a drugstore?

i usually dont have a problem with body acne, but right now i'm having a few breakouts on my back and neck. probably because of the changing weather and some of the hair products i've been using now that my hair is longer. i just might have to try this if i can find the shampoo. is it expensive?

Why wouldn't u use a 'small' amount of shampoo on ur face if it works?

Caliente: U can buy it at WalMart- If I remember correctly it was $7.95. I tried it with the aspirin mixture b/c it worked so well on my scalp. I get acne and infected hairs and had tried EVERYTHING. This actually worked. I'm using it every other day on my back and the results are awesome. I still haven't tried it on my face yet. Mostly b/c I don't get acne on my face very often and have been using just the aspirin and water as a 'preventative'. I'll guinea pig it tonight and let u know what happens.

Question Re: Aspirin Mask- THE Formula

Does it have to be 'asprin' or can it just be acetaminaphin (spelling, I know), what seems to be the active ingredient that helps?

    Thanks in advance

    it has to be aspirin.

aspirin itself is similar to salicylic acid. i've also heard that its a more concentrated form of salicylic acid. i'm sure someone else can elaborate, i dont know the exact scientific explanation.

    Re: Aspirin Mask- THE Formula

From what I've read on here, salicylic acid is the main ingrediant in aspirin. Don't know if it really is or not. But I do know it works!

Tried it on my face- no complications!

    Re: Aspirin Mask- THE Formula

    Hi Everyone,

I've tried the mask too. It does seem to work - stopped new spots and shrunk existing ones. However, I've noticed that it leaves my skin a bit red. Other people have said it takes red away. It also leaves my skin a bit dry and the next day it peels.

I used about 10 aspirin, left it on for 10 minutes.

Any ideas why it's making my skin red & peeling? Is that normal? Any suggestions for how to avoid that side effect?

    Thanks everyone!

Do you have sensitive skin? Maybe cut the time you leave it on. (?) Or try mixing it with a moisterizer. Be sure and dissolve the aspirin in water first. I've found that not much else will dissolve it properly.

    Re: Aspirin Mask- THE Formula

Aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), an acetylized form of SA which basically makes it ingestable. SA can be harmful when taken internally in its pure form. It is a highly concentrated form of SA. Try to use NON COATED forms of Aspirin.

And NO ACETOMINOPHEN will not have the same effects.

Theres some organic chemistry for you.
