Post Atkins Diet

I used to do the Atkins diet before I got adult acne, and I would notice a considerable difference in my skin. It was clearer looking and smoother and the whites of my eyes were brighter. I'm thinking about going on it again and seeing how low carbs will effect my cystic acne. I've been megadosing on beta carotene, zinc and B5 with little improvement and although the Atkins diet is somewhat controversial, I think experimenting with it for a couple weeks couldn't hurt.

Anyone else tried low carbs to help their skin?

Thumbs up

Pantothenic acid worked for me for 7 years. Eventually, the effects began to fade over a year or so. I then decided to switch to a natural diet (fruits, veggies, organic meat, legumes, nuts) and my skin has cleared up. This diet is low carb because natural eating is low carb. Refined sugar, bread, pasta, and the likes are the cause of many health problems and can contribute to acne. I would recommend you go low carb, but don't cut out fruits entirely. They have many documented health benefits. I also strongly suggest you buy organic meat such as Coleman or Montana Range.

Good luck!

i agree...adkins (low carb) did wonders for my skin. I am almost 29 and have had cystic acne around mouth and chin for about the last 5 years. I have tried almost everything except accutane. Finally i tried adkin's, not neccessarily to lose weight but to see if i had the will power my hubby has, and what do you know my skin cleared up. i do find it really hard to maintain the low carb lifestyle. i did lose 11 pounds and got clear skin. lately i have eaten more carbs and my skin did break out....i dont think it is coincidence. i am going to start low carbing now because i am going to go on vacation to puerta vallarta mexico in 2 weeks and i want to look good in a swim suit and have clear skin. wish me luck....mighty!! PS.... NO KIDS FOR A WEEK!!!
