    I still support the antibiotic use. It works, you would take them if you had strep. Acne is painful physically and mentally, and that should be treated medically. If nothing else has worked, we can't just give up.
    I would recommend he take probiotic with the Rx, I used to take acidopholus (sp.) pearls. I liked these b/c they don't need refrigeration. I used to take them at night, and I had no digestive issues while on the antibiotics.

    Probiotics to prevent thrush or why? my DS gets thrush after antibiotics, so do I... It's not nice

    Also, use Oxywash or Hibiclens instead of soap, to reduce the antibiotic resistant bacteria on the skin.

    It could be worth trying one of those red/blue lights.... they seem to have quite good results, and are a novel aproach when regular chemotherapy fails.

    I would like to see how useful antibiotics are in isotretinoin resistant acne, which is in itself extremely rare

    The probiotic helps counteract some of the side effects of the antibiotic. I don't have any personal experience with thrush, but yes, it would help prevent that. For me it helped maintain the balance in my digestive system.
