I know you said you wanted a cleanser that's not medicated, but I have dry acne prone skin, so my doctor prescribed a cleanser called Brevoxyl creamy wash. It does not lather and it contains benz. peroxide 4% and glycolic acid. I LOVE this stuff. I only use it at night and I haven't dried out from it. I also think it's helped clear me.

crazyabout blue, have you tried Cetaphil or Paula's Choice Normal/Dry cleanser? Both are non-foaming types and are gentle. People also mention Spectro Gel as a very gentle cleanser, but I've never used it or seen it, and I'm not sure if it's foaming or not.

From what I've heard about the Boscia cleanser, it's about 50/50. Some people have luck with it, but it also makes others break out. Sounds chancy to me.

I wouldn't advise using Witch Hazel as a toner. It is usually much too harsh for acne-prone skin. It could be irritating your skin or drying it out too much, causing the skin to produce even more oil to compensate.

The "brown spots" you see on the cotton ball may not be dead skin. As long as you use a pretty good cleanser, and don't wear TOO heavy makeup, the cleanser should be able to do a good enough job of cleaning. Many people don't need toners. The stuff you see on the cotton ball might just be regular skin cells or essential oils that your skin needs!

I have tried cetaphil, but it caused blkheads. It didnt really help clear up my skin. I dont wear makeup, only when i work, which is only powder.
Paula's choice didnt work too well with my skin. I didnt really like it.

Ok, well, lot of ppl on this acne board said that Witchhazel was good, so thats why I got it.. I never used toner, but i thought i get it to cleanse my skin even more.

ahhhhh.. well, hmmm, maybe go for sensitive skin cleanser?.. like clearasil?
Or pHisoderm for sensitive skin? - i know it contains mineral oil.

How about Nivea for combo skin?

TimDream: Here I go again.. i dont think the Aveeno soap helps. Maybe its not ideal for my skin.. Im going to try to avoid using other creams.. and just keep my skin clean, and just use BP cream. What other cleanser? Thanks again.

i use dickensons witch hazel as does my gf. it has always been extremely gently imo. almost like water. i like it. i have very sensitive skin. but if you're skin is really dry you may want to skip it and see if that makes any difference. it's prolly the other stuff that's drying you out not the aveeno and witch hazel. just my $.02. but use whatever works for you.
