| What's Worked and What Hasn't?
Hey everyone
Everyone's had their products and treatments that have done wonders or the opposite-So I say we make a big list as a reference point.
What's worked for me: Green tea (as a drink), Estelle-35 (BC pill), Elizabeth Arden Skin Illuminating Complex (for scarring), drinking lots of water, time in the sun and Clean and Clear oil free mosturiser.
What hasn't worked: Differin!-It gave me horrible scars. Cleasil and delcanin T sucked too. Mino Tabs-They worked GREAT almost straight away-but as soon as you go off them you breakout really bad.

Good idea, dramaqueen:
What hasn't worked for me- cetaphil cleanser (I still break out) and Neutrogena Body Clear with salicylic acid (again, still break out).
What has worked- nothing so far, but I'm going to try drinking more water.

What DID NOT WORK...
1.Proactiv (used it for 4 years and it barely kept my breakouts under control, however, it made my skin VERY dry.)
2.Tea tree oil (didn't break me out but didn't help)
3.Purpose cleanser (seemed to make my red marks worse)
4.Neutrogena on the spot (made me HORRIBLY dry)
5.Benzamycin (Made me worse and again, made my skin very dry, red and flakey)
6.RetinA (for spot treatment of cysts, this is fine, however, when I used it all over my skin was so dry I couldn't even smile without it cracking)
7.SkinClean (decent cleanser but made my skin very oily and caused cysts. I think this would be a nice cleanser for those who are not acne prone)
What HAS worked...
1.B5 along w/ vitamins A, C, E, Zinc, fish oil, B50 complex
2.Drinking more water and less diet drinks and juice
3.Cetaphil cleanser
4.Total Effects moisturizer
5.Carley's clear and smooth twice a week as exfoliator
6.Clindamycin topical gel twice a week
7.Queen Helene's mint julep mask
8.Alesse bc pill

Great topic, Dramaqueen! What hasn't worked: *Vitamin B5 (big waste of time, no improvement with this) *Neutrogena Benzoyl Peroxide (made my face dry and flaky) *Proactiv (liked the toner, but didn't work) *Tea Tree Oil (smelled bad and stung, AND still didn't work) *Neutrogena Acne Patch (stopped working for me) *Azelex (also made my face dry and flaky) *Differen (didn't prevent breakouts) *Paula's Choice 2% BHA (greasy and didn't prevent breakouts) What's working: *Minocycline (keeps me clear) *Carley's Clear & Smooth (using this every night) *Skin Biology's CP Serum (fades hyperpigmentation marks) *Clinique's Emergency Mask (clay mask that shrinks blemishes overnight) *Vitamins C & E (keeps me healthy)
P.S. Until one year ago, I had moderate, cystic acne.

What has worked:
Dianette
Vitamin C
Zinc
What hasn't worked:
There's just too much to list, but basically brand name acne treatments like Clearasil, Oxy, Neutrogena, Clan & Clear, etc.
What made things WORSE for me:
Spironolactone
Oxy Duo Pads
Clearasil Daily Facial Cleanser <-- worse of the lot
Collagen supplements
30% Glycolic Acid Peel purchased from eBay

| What hasn't worked
-getting pregnant
-Proactive Solution
-Ortho-Tricyclen <-- gave me cystic acne I never had before
-Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash
-Any Neutrogena make up. Made my skin dry and it doesn't cover.
-Dermalogica products. What a rip off. What has worked
-Those clearasil creams. They worked wonders for me in high school. Haven't used them since.
-Erythromycin topical solution. Helped me sooo much when I broke out from BC's. Now a year later I think my skin has built tolerance for it.

The only thing that worked for me was Accutane, but I had severe cystic acne. It was horrible.

What has worked: Simply using DIAL soap, the oil absorbing sheets, and clearasil vanishing cream. I had tried so many other products and finally this cleared my acne 100%! |

Has worked:
-Jojoba oil (love this stuff!)
-Paula's Choice products (esp. 2% BHA liquid)
-Oil of Olay Daily Facials (the normal skin one, not the oily skin one-too irritating)
-Stridex Body Wash (I've trid every medicated wash there is, and this is the only one that helps me)
-Physician's Formula green/light duo concealer (looks like a lipstick tube-stays on really well)
Hasn't worked:
-Proactiv (does this stuff work for anybody?)
-Differin (didn't do a thing)
-Retin-A Micro (not strong enough)
-Neutrogena Body Wash and Scrub stuff (always makes me break out)
-Tea Tree Oil (doesn't do anything but smell bad)
-Oxy Vanishing Cream BP(vanishing? it leaves indelible white streaks all over my face!)
-Biore Nose Strips (you think they're doing something, but really they're only making things worse)
-Murad Acne (very expensive; very useless)
-Burt's Bees wild lettuce soap (I never really felt clean; there was kind of a soapy residue, but I do like the lettuce toner)
