Question for phillaser

Hi phil,
your before and after pics look great. You recently told me that you had laser surgery to help with your acne pitting. You also mentioned that you have dark/ethnic skin. I read somewhere that laser isn't safe for dark skin because it can cause discoloration. Did this happen to you? How did your doctor do laser on yuou with these risks? Or are there no risks at all? Please respond because i am thinking of doing the same procedure? Any ideas? Bye;-)

Re: Question for phillaser

Hi,

There are many lasers but they can be split to two categories - one that cuts your skin like a scalpel (used for wrinkles, bad bad acne scars) and one which is more of a light (for tattoos, redness, etc).

My doctor used the laser light (which did not cut the skin) to help my scars heal properly. Basically, it was a very very strong light. Because no skin was 'cut' or damaged, it is safe for all skin types. It is called the Pulsed Light laser.

But what really helped me a lot for the scars was putting on the Vaseline for 10 weeks after my treatment. All the red marks and scars went away!

Re: Question for phillaser

In my case it helps with both.

Have you also tried Vaseline? It really helps scars fade in 10 weeks although applying it 6 times a day is a @#$ hassle.
