women, Diane-35 questions??

I definitely suffer from hormonal acne and ordered Diane-35 from an online pharmacy. At the moment, i've been taking Alesse, another anti-androgenic bcp. i've been on it for approx. 6months with a min-mod improvement (some months are better than others). Just wandering if its worth switching to the Diane-35, has it really helped? when did you start to see results? do you think i would results quickly b/c i've been on the pill for awhile??? sorry so many questions. please help. Oh, also Diane-35 isn't legal in U.S.--another reason i feel hesitant

Hi there

I had horrible cystic acne that was caused by hormones when I was in grade 12. My doctor put me on Marvelon 23 bcp which didn't help at all then decided to switch me to Diane35. I haven't had cystic acne since. It worked beautifully.

I've been off it now for a year and so far no reoccurence. I did however gain a few pounds but I'm working on getting those off now. Hope this helps.

hi isabel

the only way that diane 35 worked for me was by skipping the sugar pills and continuing straight into the hormone pills.

I tried diane35 about 12 years ago when I was a teenager. Worked brilliantly the first month and then the next month nothing.

When I skipped the sugar pills my skin became really clear, hardly any breakouts at all. My doctor originally told me to try this as apparently it can help with endometriosis. I had also read about it in a magazine. By skipping the sugar pills you also skip your period. The drawback is you may put on some weight, but if you exercise will keep it in check. He said I could safely do it for 3-6 months and then have a break by taking the sugar pills to get your period.

This has worked wonders for me and helped to keep most of the cysts away.

Hi Isabel,

I've been on Diane since last August and my skin has been almost completely clear since-- I still get tiny bumps which are not all that noticeable, and of course I suffer from the red marks that my acne left behind.

I haven't experienced any noticeable symptoms and it took about 3 1/2 months to really notice a difference. Sorry, but I'm not sure if Diane will work for you right away if you're already on an androgen-blocker bcp, but it sounds reasonable.

I don't think Diane is technically illegal in the U.S-- it's just not FDA approved, although I read somewhere that there's a U.S. version of Diane called Jasmine that is coming out (or maybe it already did, I'm not sure).

Good luck-- I hope your experience is as positive as mine!

thanks for all the great info on your experiences with diane-35. I may stick with my pill through the next month, then switch over to diane-35. I would start now but, i already bought the next pill pack for Alesse and figured its been working so-so, whats one more month. Also, i'm a little worried about weight gain with the Diane. I know some of you mentioned issues with weight while on it--Just wandering who gained weight (and how much). I work out and am pretty slim but i am in a bunch of weddings and don't want to put on weight. Please let me know about this as well. thanks so much

i have been on diane35 for 6 mths now, i have not gained weight, diane actually helped me to loose about 5lbs that i had been trying to get rid of
this past last month i have been breaking out, not very bad but this is the first time since ive been on diane that i have actually gotten a breakout
my derm told me to stay on it for 3 more months an then she would like me to comee off and monitor me
but i think i might have a very bad breakout?
anyone can tell me what happened when they stopped diane?
