Post flakes flakes flakes

My face is always flaky. It seems like it always has been. No matter what moisturizer I try. I am currently using Proactiv, with jojoba oil for a moisturizer. Does anyone know why this happens? (I was flaky before the Proactiv also.) My makeup always looks nasty. Help!!!

proactiv is very drying...sounds like you need to use a very gentle cleanser. no bar soap, foaming cleansers, etc.

I have used moisturizers until the cows come home. I have only been using Proactiv for 1 week now. I have been flaking since high school! I am so tired of it! It seems like my skin is always trying to renew itself or something. I don't know how to get it under control. Or if that's even a possibility!!

You might want to find some sort of moisturizing mask. I was using Sage's Pink Gelloid as a mask every morning and it greatly improved my flakiness. Their products are just so darn expensive though that I'm searching for a replacement.

I have dry/flaky skin too, and the only thing I've come up with is using thick amounts of vaseline as a mask. Here's what I do:

Cleanse, dont dry
Steam your face for 1 minute
Immediately apply thick amounts of vaseline (this way it'll soak in)
Leave on for 5 minutes
Gently massage into skin before taking off
Wash it off, dry face
Apply makeup..

It really helps with flakyness, at least for me. Vaseline also helps redness so my skin looks 5 times better overall. And makeup looks 5 times better because it actually smooths over nicely. If you need more moisure, apply a very thin layer of vaseline before you apply makeup. I would give this a try. I really hope it helps you out!!

try taking fatty acids internally like flax seed oil and evening primrose oil or you might try fish oil.
