Help!!! Differin problems!!!

I am extremely frustrated! I have been on differin for 8 weeks, about 6 on the cream and 2 on the gel, and I am not noticing any improvement. In fact, I think its made my face worse. It seems like it is making my pores larger, and I am breaking out where I never got pimples before. I have mild to moderate acne, blackheads, whiteheads, and some bumps (cystic, I think). I have been trying the liquid EFA, 1 gram of B5 in a B complex, 50 mg of zinc, and 400 E. And not washing in the morning, and only using cetaphil at night before the differin.(a little bit of all the things everyone has suggested that has worked) So now I need advice-should I just try stopping the differin or what should I do. Any responses would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Did you ask your derm about the combination of what you are trying and did you try differin without all the other stuff?

Hi,

I was on Differin for 12 weeks before I saw a difference. Sounds like you might be going through an initial breakout stage? My face got worse before it got better. I would stay on it for 16 weeks then if still no change you might want to consider something else. I finally quit the Differin because it did not get rid of my cysts. It got rid of the small blackheads and little bumps all over my face though. Good luck!

No, I don't see the derm for another month. I have been taking the other stuff for about 3 weeks.
Thanks for the replies, I will try and stick with the differin for another few weeks.

Stick with DIFFERIN I guess. It doesnt' make my face AS RED as retin-a so i guess it's good

Yo man, I know what you're goign through. Right now I have TONS of whiteheads/blackheads on my face, whereas before, I had a few.

I was on differin for 8 weeks, then went to REtin-a for 4 weeks, then back to Differin now for 1 week so far.

Im goign to use up the entire tube of differin, THEN quitting acne meds all together and let the body do its stuff.

baweaver: I've been using Differin for more than 24 weeks and my skin STILL hasn't recovered, so calm down! I'm on my third tube of Differin, and am wondering how much longer it's going to take. Relax

I know what you're going through. I was going to quit after using Differin for 2 and a half months. But it's been like 6 months and my skin is sooo clear. I realized that some of the products I had been using had been clogging my pores, like one type of night cream I used. And also bar soap. It can clog pores, even Cetaphil I think. So I just stick to the liquid cetaphil. My skin is sooooo clear and smooth. Really nice. Oil of Olay makes good moistruzers. Not greasy and doesn't make me break out, no matter how much I put on.
Anyway, good luck. And stick with it for al ittle bit. The initial breakout will be over. Be patient. You might want to combine benzoyl peroxide in the morning to help.
