    Re: Skin Culture Peel 4000

Nope. Wasnt me that came up with the brushing technique. That's a very old post, from months and months back, cant remember who posted it. Anyway, it worked very nicely for me (until i tried the egg yolk thing and broke out grrrrrrrr... ok, i wont talk abuot that grrrrrrr). I dont use a toothbrush, i use a face brush and just brush away at red marks and moisturise afterwards. Was doing that a coupla times a week... kinda like sanding the skin, thats why i said it sounded like micro. Ive stopped doing that now cos the egg yolk (grrrrrrrrrr) broke me out in tiny whiteheads under the skin and i think brushing now would only make things worse. Im hopeing these white heads will just go away (am using a mud mask to try dry em out), and then ill start brushing again.

When i got the peel i ordered the 4000 (just didnt have the guts to use it for the 4 nights so effectively i had a 3000 peel). I think it cost me around 150 pounds, something like that. Well worht the money!

I'll try and find that out for ya doing the search tomorrow. off to bed now. Its late here.

    nite

No idea of the exchange rate. 200 pounds is more than 200 dollars though, i know that for sure but cant tell you the exact amount.

Get the right peel, dont go with any imitations. It's called Skin Culture PeelAway 4000. Thats what i used.

If I am currently using a light tretinoin cream formulated by my derm, would you consider that Retin-A? says there you should stop retin-a 30 days before you administer the peel.

    Pink Floyd,

tretinoin cream is the generic for Retin A. It is the exact same thing.

I have been using it too, since last weekend. I'm not using it tonight.

I confused about that anyway. One site says not to and the other site doesn't mention anything about it.

Are you going to do the peel?

    Thanks

Man, after seeing you guys talk so good about this peel, I sooo want to try it...Why does the good stuff have to be expensive??? The price really isnt bad for something so good, I guess, but it sounds like so much money. Anyways, Jani, if you end up getting it, let us know how you like it! I wish you luck!!

    Re: Skin Culture Peel 4000

Thanks for the input. If I do the peel I'll be sure to let everyone know. I can get the time off work, but if I use all my days up, I'll have no vac time left, so not sure what to do. Cause I'm already taking time off in Jan. I could do it then, but I'd be stuck in the house for my vac and I'll be in Fla. But I don't think I'd mind spending a week in the house if I would truely get results. But that's a long time to wait; for me anyway. I want something done about this now!

I just did my first microdermabrasion with the kit I bought. I have some active acne, so maybe I shouldn't be using it, cause it broke them open. My skin looks real red where the acne is. It feels a little different, like tighter. Kindda like it would feel after you wash a mask off. I don't expect that tightness to last. Hopefully when I wake up the redness will be better. It's only red where the few spots of acne are. It says to use for 5 days in a row, so I'll make a decision after that.
After you apply a serum made of vit k and gigko biloba. I'm nervous about that. I don't know if this sounds weird or not, but I never had these shallow scars on my cheeks until a few months ago. I was using an AHA serum, and then all of a sudden they appeared. I don't know the relationship there, but it makes me nervous to use any kind of serums now. My only thought is if it is removing dead skin cells from the top of your skin, the scars could have always been there, and are just more apparent with the rest of the skin being evened out. Does that make sense to anyone??

Anyway if the microderm does anything, I'll post on it, and thanks for sharing your advice.

    Re: Skin Culture Peel 4000

I tried this peel late last year and it didn't help me one bit. My face looked/felt the same. This is not to discourage anyone from trying it. People have different experiences with different treatments but this did absolutely nothing for me. I felt I just wasted all of that money and was out of commission for a little over a week.

Yes, I can relate to what you said.

About a year ago I used Retin-A for the first time.

I had scars and I put it on them to try to fade them some. It actually made them look worse. It was the first time I had ever tried to exfoliate my face with anything.

I know now it was because it took the dead skin cells off my scars and made them appear worse.

I didn't use Retin-A again because I thought it ruined me. I just recently started back with it. If I would have kept on using the Retin A my skin would have probably started looking better.

    I know this now.

    aem00,

Thank you so much for wishing me luck!! I will write a note daily when I start my peel to let everyone know what is happening.

Thanks and Good Luck to both of you.

    Re: Skin Culture Peel 4000

    tantric,

How strong of a peel did you use?

    Was it the 1000, 2000, 3000, or the 4000?

If you only tried the 1000 it is very weak.

    Please inform me soon.

    Thanks

hey cow (the other name is kinda gross, so thats what im callin u from now on) anyways, ive alwasy wanted to do that peel, but noone had every mentioned it and now that u have had great results i really wanna try it. first thing i have to ask is how bad were ur marks before u had the peel, adn how did they look after it, detailed if u can. thanx. and also, i can't find anytime to do this damed thing, so im just gonna say what the heck and try this out. i will apply the first peel at around 3 ish on thursday, and skip class friday, then i will have sat, sun, and i will prob skip class monday as well. then, do u think by tuesday it would be ok to go to class and what not, or would i still look like a freakshow.

    Re: Skin Culture Peel 4000

    jani,
    I used the 4000.

their claims do not match what actually happens. Moreso, my mother did it a month after myself as well and her experience was just as disappointing. Though she did not have scarring, she had just fine lines and a few blemishes around her cheek area. Afterwards, they were all still there (blemishes didn't fade in the least) as was the experience with myself (as I had laser surgery many years ago and some of the lines remained). so that's just our experience with it. As I mentioned before, different people have different reactions and testaments.

    Re: Skin Culture Peel 4000

have no fear the cow is here!

Ill try and answer your questions.

for PinkFloyed, im afraid i have no idea whether you should stop using that cream one month before the peel. All i know is that in all the intructions i received with the peel nothing was said about not using it if youd been using something else.

For Pac10: Id say my acne was moderate though there was a lot of it and mainly around my jawline and forehead, never had any on cheeks and i dont have oily skin. I had red bumps which would leve red marks/scars, though never any pits. After the peel all the active acne was gone and i'd say like 90% of scarring had gone too. I was left with the odd red mark here and there and i'm sure if i'd done another peel a month later that would have gone too. However, i was happy with the results and used AHA creams after that (Skin Culture sell AHA creams for after the peel but i never bought any from them, i just used OTC ones, so i don't know whether their "aftercare" treatment is good or not. My guess would be that their AHA creams are probably no different from any other). So i used AHA for a couple of months and continued to see improvement as i think my skin was very receptive due to the peel.

About whether you're gonna look like a freak. I'm gonna try and explain to you the sequence of events from the moment you do the first application. They, and my advice is that you apply at night. In the morning your skin will be red/brown and your acne/blemishes will look much worse because they have become redder and browner too. Obviously after each application your skin looks worse and worse. I guess you could get away with saying you got a sunburn, that would depend on where you live for that to be feasible or not. You'll look like you have a very very deep sunburn and someone will prolly wanna rush you to ER. That is what you will look like until the peeling begins. Once that begins there's no way you'll wanna go to class or be seen by anyone. So, my advice is that you go to class the first days of treatment and skip classes the days your skin is peeling off.

Usually the peel is finished in a week, but in some cases in can take up to 10 days for everything to peel off (this is depending on how tough your skin is). Also once the peeling starts and you start to use the normaliser cream the redness will start to go down, but you're left with great big layers of skin hanging off your face. With me everything finished in one week exactly.

About your other question whether you can just treat your cheeks. Obviously you can but i wouldnt advise it as after the skin has peeled off it is much lighter in colour so it would look odd compared to the rest of your face.

Hope this has been helpful. I think ive answered everything. Feel free to ask more.

    MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO O

For tantric: are you male or female and what strength of peel did you use? It did say that depending on how tough one's skin was in some cases skin would flake off rather than peel. I'm just thinking that perhaps if you're a guy you would have tougher skin and maybe thats why it wasnt effective for you.

Also wanted to say that i am very fair skinned so maybe i looked much worse than someone who is darker skinned.... just a thought.

It also gets much better results if you're fair skinned. The darker you are the less benefit you'll get from the peel.

I emailed them, and they said that YES the same rules do apply to tretinoin. <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/tongue.gif"> Too bad.

Yes come to think of it, the tretinoin IS making my scars seem worse. I guess patience is the key.

I don't know whether I'm gonna do this peel or not. I live in another country, and will still have to get someone in the States to receive it and Fedex it to me cause otherwise people in our damned postal system will steal it haha.

I have a three week break coming up in october and maybe i can get a week off from my friends and boyfriend. THe problem here is thinking of an excuse and resisting the urge to see my boy. Hehe but it'll all be worth it I hope.
