    benzamycin and tazorac

Has anyone been prescribed benzamycin and tazorac together? How long should it take to start working?

    Dear Lillie19:

How did your dermatologist prescribe the application of these?

I am using tazorac 0.1 cream (less oily than the gel) at night and then Klaron 10% (antibacterial) in the morning.

You do peel from the Tazorac because it exfoliates your skin. Therefore there is some redness related to using it. But once your skin adjusts it the redness goes down. Also, Klaron is super gentle if you find the benzaclin is too harsh.

I mix it with foundation and I get a nice, even skin tone.

    Re: benzamycin and tazorac

    tsb,
My derm has me on tazorac gel..im not sure of the strength...
I wear it for 5 minutes every night..then wash it off.
He told me that it would be too harsh to try to wear it for the entire night. My face is peeling a little...but thats nothing in comparison with having a gigantic pimple!

As for the Benzamycin...I put it on in the morning only and it leaves a little residue behind. So far..no major dryness though

Do you mix benzamycin with your foundation? For the past week I haven't worn any makeup at all...Its been really hard because my face is so red but Im hoping this will help my skin get better more quickly.
    Thanks

    Re: benzamycin and tazorac

    Dear Lillie:

Yes, my derm also told me to wear the tazorac for a minute and then wash off. But I wear it all night.
Because to be honest it just wasn't doing the trick on the 1 minute approach. If I notice I am getting a little too red or peely, I just put in on every other night.

Look on your tube and see what the percentage strength is. I bet you its 0.05%. That's not the highest.
If it is 0.05%, maybe you should try leaving it on for longer periods of time.

I don't use benzaclin. I use Klaron. It is very gentle and has a watery gel like consistancy.

So, what I do is put it on my cheeks and then put a couple of drops of foundation (I use loreal, oil free matt) together. I spread out the mixture and then pat my face to get rid of the streak marks. Just as it's about to set. I then dab a little more foundation on the redder spots of acne. I have a flawless cover.

This way I can wear make-up and my med at the same time.

My mom thinks I should become a camouflage make-up artist at the way I use make up and how I have perfected this technique.

My suggestion about the make up is to practice using watered down aloe vera gel and a liquid foundation to learn how to spread and pat. Once you figure this out you can see if it works with your med.

    Re: benzamycin and tazorac

    i use tazorac and benzaclin.
my doc says tazorac is great for blackheads. NOT. it doesn't work, it doesn't help me and i've been using gel 0.05%, cream 0.1% and it's just not working.
benzaclin makes me skin peel and itch and doesn't help.

i don't get that many pimples, but when i do, it takes a long time to go away and i always get a red mark. i hate that.

    Re: benzamycin and tazorac

    Thanks for your advice!
I've been on this medication for two weeks now..and my face is kinda red and tight but THANK GOD....I haven't gotten a new pimple in 4 days...everyday I wake up and I'm kinda scared to look in the mirror because I'm expecting a new zit...but so far so good.

So...I think the tazorac is working well for the blackheads...and besides being red..i've improved at least 60 percent!!!!!!

    Good luck!

    Re: benzamycin and tazorac

I'm glad you are having good results with tazorac. I've been using it religiously since August and my skin is clearer than it has been in years...meaning almost perfect right now. Stick with the medicine even though you have dryness. I haven't experienced any dryness for a least a month or so now. I'm assuming it goes away with continued use.
