My TCA Peel Diary

My TCA Peel Diary

Today's Date Saturday November 16, 2002
Peel Procedure Date November 18, 2002

It is now only two days before I have my TCA Peel. As of this moment, Iím feeling very fidgety, worried, distressed, uneasy, nervous, scared, and chicken, whatever you want to call it.

Unfortunately the large pimple (inflamed) on my face is still there. The nurse said everything should be OK. She also mentioned that the doctor could go around the pimple if he felt the need to do so. Iím assuming (and hoping) that if he did that, he would touch up that area when it healed. My main concern is that, maybe, just maybe; it wonít be so inflamed by Monday.

Iím getting ready to go shopping right now to stock up for next week (plan to hibernate like a bear), with high hopes an emergency will not arise during hibernation!

Thatís it for now, I guess.

Well, tomorrow is the big day for me.

Still feel the same as yesterday, and I still have the big horrible pimple.

Only thing different from yesterday is the shopping has been done.

Re: My TCA Peel Diary

Hey Everyone,

This may be a little long, but I figure anyone interested in doing a TCA Peel wants some details.

I made it through it. It was hard to get up the nerve this morning to go, but I managed it (I was 6 minutes late).

My doctor seemed very nice and caring. He started on my forehead and went down the nose. He stopped there and waited a while so I would not be overwhelmed with pain. After it frosted over, he applied some damp clothes to my forehead and the pain subsided some. He then asked if I was ready to continue and I said yes.

He continued doing the same thing through out my face in one area at a time. I also had him put some of the acid on my v-chest area to help with some freckles (at no extra charge).

The doctor was so funny too. He said hold on so I can turn some good peel music on. Then he started kinda singing and humming while he was doing the peel. It did help lighten the mood!

I won't lie to anyone it was painful. Like a burning stinging sensation. If you have ever had a strong glycolic acid peel (50% or higher), you could compare the feeling to that. Glycolic Peels are pretty irritating.

Although what helped the burn was he only doing it in sections through out my face. I don't know how I could have stood it, if it would have been applied over my whole face, wait for it to frost and then put the cool clothes on. Unless I had Anastasia!

He started around 12:00pm and finished about 1:15pm. I still have some slight burning/stinging now, but it is tolerable.

He didn't want to take any chances going over my huge pimple. He didn't want to risk it. He said it was absest. He gave me a prescription for antibiotics and said this should keep it from getting infected.

He tried to talk me into rescheduling for next week, but I told him no, I'm ready now. He said most people need 3 TCA Peels to achieve the results they want. He also said that I should only need two. It is upsetting about not doing that pimple area though. One reason why is because I have a few shallow scars, and a couple of large pores in that area where the big pimple is. He doesn't want to touch up that area later. He said he would give me another full face TCA Peel with a discount next time. I said great, I love discounts!

So maybe I can try to have another one in December before Christmas (It will be my Christmas Present to myself lol). I won't be as terrified next time, because now I know what to expect.

Well, I did it and I still canít believe I had the guts! Iím very proud of myself!

Oh yeah,

I wanted to say that if anyone has any questions about the procedure or anything feel free to ask me. I'll answer any questions when I can. I don't mind at all.

Also, I wanted to thank the people that were very supportive for me. That helped a great deal, more than you'll ever know. Thanks!!

Re: My TCA Peel Diary

hi 20, i think tca peels are helpful for scars that are not permanent. i don't think its a good idea to get the peel if there are alot of blemishes on the face, but with one or two pimples its probably okay.

the doc's office i spoke to charges $500 for an obagi peel.

TifaniesSecret - Glad to hear all's well with you! How are you feeling? What does your face look like now? Are you presentable enough to venture out into public for even a run to the store, or do you have a sort of mask from the peel? If you're in any discomfort, I really recommend Aleve, it's the best pain reliever I've found.

Keep us updated on your progress - Best wishes to you
