Post I stopped B5 and still have side effects...

Hi,
I stopped B5 like 5 days ago and am still suffering from bad headaches!!! I wake up and I have a headache. I sleep and I have a headache and I am still constantly tired. I can even fall asleep after drinking coffee which is VERY unusual for me! I had been on B5 for three months but only REALLY megadosed last week (8-10g). Before that I took like 2-4g. I hope I didnt mess myself up in some way. I didnt take a bcomplex but I did take a multivitamins occasionally. I am beginning to wonder about the safety (long term and short term) of megadosing on a vitamin...

Just curious, what have you been taking for your headaches? If you have been taking Excedrin or a product with ingredients the same as Excedrin for your headache you must stop as repeated use of Excedrin will actually cause you to have headaches.I know this from both experience and research.Ibuprofen is best.

I took safe amounts of vitamin A before, and I had side effects esp. tirednesss and headaches. I think it took 4-7 days to feel better.

If you're in doubt, see a Dr. it's better to be safe than sorry.

Maybe you have the flu?

Wink

Your problem is likely due to mega-dosing on B-5. Your body excretes excess B-5 and takes other B-vitamins along with it, causing a deficiency in the other B's. I would recommend a good multiple with only 100% of the RDA for all the B's. Even the so called "balanced" B-50s or B-100s do not have balanced RDAs. I think your headaches will go away in a week or so of taking the multiple I recommend above, along with stopping the B-5.

Mega-dosing on Vitamin C is not a good idea either, as your body will get conditioned to excreting excess C, even when you stop supplementing or miss a day or 2, which may set you up to catch a cold. I only take 250 mg a day of C.

Also, see my post on "Vitamin experiences...which is best??."
