Red face What is this thing on my forehead???

    Hi guys,
new member and looking for a bit of advice seeing as its now the weekend and cant see my doc until monday at the earliest...

I've had this "thing" on my forehead for the last week or so (maybe 2 weeks).

It's like a blackhead but its attached to my face by skin at the base.
It's sticking out about 3-4 mm off my head and it just looks seriously gross now.

It's not sore to squeeze the very top of it, but if I try to remove it it hurts like heck.

I've tried "rolling" it around in a circle on my head to try and break it loose but it doesn't seem to want to budge.

    Any ideas would be appreciated!

It looks like either a skin tag or something called a cutaneous horn -- neither of which are serious.

    Ok thanks for info.
I probably shouldnt have but startes researching the "horn" thing.
As far as I can tell they freeze it off at the docs then send it away for analysis to make sure it isnt malignant...that about right?
I know you say its not serious but im kinda freaking about it now

The horn is made up of keratin, and can usually be removed with a sterile razor, by a doctor. However, the underlying condition will still need to be treated. Treatments vary, but they can include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.
The lesion at the base of the keratin mound is benign in the majority of cases. However, squamous cell carcinoma may be present, as this being the most common type of of carcinoma for this condition.
FYI: These were the first skin conditions that came to mind once I saw your forehead. I am NOT a dermatologist - just a hobby of mine. Am probably totally wrong, however as you know should be looked at.
BTW: My dog (a Chow) had a small one on his head, which completely disappeared on it's own.
    Good Luck & ciao/chow
