Post jojoba oil ingredients

I just bought jojoba oil from GNC and it has Tocopherol & propylparaben in it.... is that bad?? I read a few peopple on here saying that you should buy 100% pure jojoba oil... does this mean mine isn't? Will mine break me out? http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/confused.gif

Tocopheryl is basically vitamin E, while the other ingredient is supposedly a non-comedogenic preservative. Shouldn't cause problems, but 100% jojoba oil isn't that hard to find, might as well use that instead.

I used the one from GNC in the beginning and didn't like it. The 100% is much better. You may be fine with this one but I don't do well with vitamin E on my face. Its supposed to be good for scars but it breaks me out. Alot of people do well with it though.

Question

thanks cheyanna- I'm gonna try using it, but if it just breaks me out I'm going to try to find the 100% stuff... I don't know where to get it, cause I can't order off the internet... I know of a health food store, but its 45 minutes away and I am really not sure how to get to it... Do any normal stores sell it??

Sammy, There are 4 forms of Tocopherols (Gamma, Delta, Beta and d-alpha) it is vitamin E which is good for the skin. Each kind of the vitamin e family does different things but I no loner remember the whole story so you might want to look the different kinds up
Propylparaben is a preservative that I think is made from bio identical synthetics since I think (not sure) this substance might be an animal by product in it's natural form. Again, I might be confused so you might want to look it up.
While the addition of Vitamin E would make sense for the skin I don't know why the other substance would be added except to protect the integrity of the Vitamin E
since vitamin E goes bad quickly.
Jojoba on the other hand has an enormously long shelf life all by it self.
Making your skin better or worse would depend on how you tolerate each substance individually and then how they do with your skin as a formula.
Personally, I would go with the 100% next time you buy.
Jojoba is a good substance and can probably accomplish what you want all by it self.
If I wanted to add a vitamin E then I might choose a plain vitamin E and use it along with the Jojoba with each substance remaining in it's own container.
For me the consideration would be Vitamin E's tendency to go bad quickly as opposed to Jojoba that seems to last forever.

Thanks Kat- I think I am gonna try to find 100% jojoba somewhere, but for now, I added a little bit of what I have to some body lotion and it made my skin so silky! I read about adding it to lotions on some post on here, and whoever wrote that, you are very right!! Very nice stuff... but I think I want 100% before putting it on my face
