Can Concerta worsen ADD?
I began Concerta almost a week ago, and I upped the dose to 56mg a day because I need it to work - and work well - rather quickly (I just started a job).
I've noticed that I don't daydream as much, but I'm still forgetful, still vulnerable to distractions (though not as much, I think), and I cannot concentrate as I should be able to.
Yesterday, the second day on 56mg, I couldn't read as well - and by that I mean I would see the words, yet I would be unable to focus on them, as though I simply couldn't marshall my mind to concentrate. I'd scan over the text with unusual speed, and it'd take me a bit of willpower to actually slow down and read.
I know that some medications take a week or so to fully "mature" (and often even longer), but I've a sneaking suspicion that Concerta might be, well, making matters worse.
Has anyone experienced this or something similar? How long did Concerta take to become therapeutic for you?
By the way, I'm 19, and I'm just about 6'3" (if not there already) and 185 pounds or so. That might make a difference in how nicely the drug works for me, I suppose.
