Think I am addicted to Lorsapam ?

I have had anxiety / panic attacks for many years.
I have tried various medications , and the only one that seems to work is
    Lorsapam (Ativan ).
I feel like I am having attacks almost on a daily basis .
The only thing that makes them decrese is 2 to 4 mg's of Lorsapam.

I want to stop taking this medication. Surely there has to be another way to eliminate these attacks without the aide of drugs.

If I don't take the medication when I have these attacks , I feel like I am going to crawl out of my skin.

    Is this addiction ?

When the medication starts to leave your system, that could be the reason you experience the panic. I know when I drink too much, when the alcohol starts to wear off, I feel really nervous. I'm trying to quit drinking, so I started a little Xanax the evening for the anxiety.

Xanax helps me sleep and to me, it's better than drinking tons of Vodka. IT has really helped me cut down on the alcohol, but I still want to quit completely. Just have to keep trying, I guess.

My doctor said benzos do the same thing to your body as alcohol; affect the GABA brain centers.

Yep, it sounds like your body is hitting tolerance when you start to freak out. Increasing the dose is the only option but then you eventually start getting up to toxic levels. Speak to your doctor about this and also try and find the Stevie Nicks story on the internet. She had a horrible time with Ativan.

I take ativan and did not even know it was addicting. I take it when I am really stressed out...

stevie nicks was addicted to Klonapin, its not the same medication as ativan.

Sorry....I thought is was ativan. Both are pretty much the same drug but they have different half-lives. They are both the same poison (benzodiazepines). They can be deadly.
