Exclamation Some on here who really need our help....

Good Morning Everyone,

I have seen in the last 10 minutes on here, two new members who have tried to quit and have failed and are beating themselves to death over it.

I thought maybe I could start a new post just for them?..maybe we could all share, that we TOO have failed at this time and time again?...Maybe new things we tried that helped us not use, just for one more day?

I myself, know for a fact, just this year, in the last 6 months, I have tried and failed at least 5 times...I have been clean now over a month, this time I began the detox recipe posted on this board, about a week before I ran out of my DOC and it made ALL the difference in the world for me.

Anyone else care to chime in?

Angel

Re: Some on here who really need our help....

I have stayed sober for 11 years in AA. God removed the desire to drink from me when I hit bottom and his grace could move in my life.

However,I stopped going to meetings for about 3 years. Then I got fibromyalgia and I took percs for the last 15 months. I just started using the recipe. I am on day 2 and doing fine. The L-lyosine helped so much with the gloomy and bored, restless feeling. I don't crave the pills, but i have to learn to live with out them. (I am not in enough pain to be on them and it is too tempting to take an extra 1/2 or whole one.)

To help with the perc taper and get me back on track, I prayed and still do, I started going to 3 AA meetings a week. I have quiet time every morning and usually at times during the day to. I practice the 12 steps.

Its a journey. It doesn't get better all of a sudden and stay better. Life has its ups and downs and as I practice the steps, I grow and learn. I have made lots of mistakes. We all have and do. As they say in AA, its progress not perfection. And I read a page from one of my books today and it was about slipping and that you get back up and start walking again. No need to ruminate or feel shameful. I am an alcoholic/addict. On my own devices I drink/use.

I forgot to add, I relapsed a bunch of times. One time after 3 1/2 years without drinking. Then after all this time I have changed addictions. My new sobriety date is 5/11/05, my first day off the percs.
