Went fine. Am right on schedule with the hell of withdrawal, denial, etc. You can't say I'm not (usually) punctual!

Re: Aaaahhhhhh, help anyone ativan or ambien

So, in reality I haven't taken any ativan since Thurs night (huge, would bring down elephant dose). And ambien I think a week before that. But the ativan was so long-lived that I didn't really start feeling it until Sunday. Monday worse, Tuesday worser, Wednesday, better than yesterday.

Somehow was hoping (but think I really knew was stupid) could mask the ambien w/d with the ativan and then get off the ativan. But while ambien is non-benzo, it works on the benzo receptor and I think the substituting w/ ativan was more like substituting one benzo with another. Or one opiate with another.

I couldn't get rid of the anxiety or sleeplessness. I keep posting warnings on here about using benzos or sedatives to get through opiate w/d. Because I never did withdraw completely and get any of it out of my system.

Not to say that people can't do it and then get off the sedatives. I couldn't.

Yup, we're both stupid. Okay, I'm supposed to think of it this way... we were hurting and didn't have the skills to feel better another way? And one day I might just believe that. Maybe the day this migraine goes away and I can sleep before 3 am.

I'm guessing you were prescribed those things for the withdrawal? Seems like those are the norm.

Where to begin? Here's my way which I highly don't recommend: get high and flush everything.

Okay, better way? Taper if you can. I couldn't. I've been "tapering" since March. And when I say tapering I mean taking giant quantities because I'm going to quit tomorrow.

They were prescibed but I didn't have the courage to tell my doc. I work at a hospital rotating shifts weekly and he knows the stress and sleeping problems I go through because he works there to.

So, why is that healthcare jobs always have the craziest hours?! I mean obstetricians on for 72 hours, rotating shifts, residents and interns working crazy hours. I mean, it's like, here, have a cigarette.

I guess I should be able to just stop with the small does of ambien 10mg a day and Klonipin 1mg a day.

As Stuart Smalley is fond of saying "Don't should yourself to death." I think it was him. pdoc said today it's the last small doses that are the hardest to get off of. Makes sense.
