Hi Jpipes!

Yes, you've got it, however, unfortunately it's not like a live chat, so it may take some time to get a response. It usually doesn't take so long as today, so don't give up on us!

Heroin is a mean one I'll give you that! Alot of people here are addicted or recovering from pain meds with hydrocodone which is in essence a synthetic heroin, so you can find alot of help around here!

How long have you been taking the methadone?
Are you detoxing under a doctor's/clinic's supervision or on your own?
What is your plan on detoxing or do you have one?

I was recently on methadone, but only for 11 days and didn't have to withdrawal because I went back to my pain medication so I'm not the greatest help on this subject. But there are ones around here who are, see Chrissy's posts...and Maggie I think.
You also might check out the "Detox plan" post at the very beginning of the post page...posted by a moderator.
Detox and withdrawal is a scary thing, but it can be done, just go really slowly. You will have others chime in soon with more advice than I have, but I'm glad you're here and would love to hear more about your story if you didn't mind.
There alot of great people here who have really good advice, support, and empathy for each other!
Please keep coming back!
You are gonna do just fine!

Re: a newcomer

Welcome Jpipes,

I was recently on Methadone but not for Heroin addiction. I am still in the decreasing phase and things seem to be okay. I still get nausiated and the fidgets but I have some non-addictive meds to help with those things.
I do not know much about what is like for a person to go off methadone form a Heroin addiction, but I am sure that if you keep reaching out to people on this forum that someone will have a simialr story or have done it for the some reasons.
I think that Shay asked you some good questions! I do know that everyone's body is different and so our experiences may vary some.
This is a great place to ask questions and talk to others about whats going on.
Everyone on this site is here for you and I hope that you stick around!!

Cool Re: a newcomer

There is so many of us out there and we care! We all suffer from addiction on this board and it does not matter what drug! Its been my pleasure to write here and help anyone that i can as i have been helped. It works and all you have do is listen a little and then carry your hope to a other addict who is suffering! as i have been told after you detox, dont use, go to na or aa meetings and try to be grateful! This is one that i am struggling with! We are here for you and will listen. Randy

Re: a newcomer

Yes, this is definitely a support board. For those who are struggling to detox, struggling through detox, struggling to stay sober once they've gone through it, and those who are helping us 'strugglers'.

I have no experiene with heroin or methadone, but please stay close to these boards while you go through this for support and encouragement, or even if you just want to vent and pour out your heart, we will be here for you.

I've detoxed before, and have to do it again, and posts like yours are helping me to try and help myself.
