How do you get to sleep while withdrawing? I have tried over the counter sleep meds, Lunesta, Benedryal, etc. When I take it, in my head I am so tired but my body is so restless and achy that i can't lay still I toss and turn all night. I get no sleep at all!! I have been reading on some posts that you try to sleep through the withdrawl process How?

Re: Sleep

Hi Winnie, I know how you feel. I have to take a valium and trazadone to get even some sort of sleep. I am little over 2 weeks clean and cannot sleep without them. I realize taking these are bad and prolonging my body getting back to normal but bottom line is I need to sleep to be able to work and thats the only way I've been able to. Good luck.

Re: Sleep

Winnie, sleep also eludes me. I've always had insomnia, but it's been real bad since going off hydrocodone. I've taken ambien and clonazam and muscle relaxers and still can't get more than a few hours sleep. Went that way for a full week and finally got 8 hrs sleep Sunday night. Work was really bad today and I'm fired up over that. I took ambien hours ago, went to bed and am now back up. Some people just sleep better than others but maybe your dr will prescribe some ambien or other sleep aid. Like Mudbone said, it can be replacing one addiction for another, but you can only go so long with no sleep before you have a meltdown. I had one at work last Friday, had to leave at 2:00 to get away. Came home and slept 3 hrs. That's the worst of it. I'll fall asleep after work for an hour or so and then be up almost all night.
Best Wishes,
