Starting naltrexone tomorrow

Hi, here's the deal. I've been shooting dope for months now and it's quite unfortunate to say the least. I quit last Monday because I am to start oral naltrexone tomorrow, Monday the 4th. 12.5 mgs Monday (quarter pill), half Tuesday, whole Wednesday, then the Vivitrol shot Thursday.

I'm scared I'll have precipitated withdrawals because on Monday (6 days ago), I took 4 mgs of Suboxone, on Tuesday I messed up and did dope, then about 5am Thursday morning I caved and took 3 mgs of Subs again cause I just wanted to sleep. I have no Subs built up in my system otherwise, but I've read you need to be off opiates/opioids for 7-10 days before naltrexone administration to avoid precipitated withdrawals.

Is precipitated withdrawal likely from this timetable? I've never experienced it. How long does it last? I'm not sick at all since I took those 3 mgs Thursday morning, which I don't know if it's a good thing or bad thing. Either I won't get that sick (unlikely), or the 3 mgs is still tying me over, meaning tomorrow will probably suck.

Will someone help?

Re: Starting naltrexone tomorrow

To be honest with you I am not familiar with Naltrexone, I know it's simlilar to suboxone but not the same, I mean with suboxone, you can start it as soon as 24 hours after your last dose of opiates, you just have to be in mild-moderate withdrawals. It depends on the person. I learned the hard way and took the suboxone the first time I tried way to soon and felt like I was dying (precipitated) ... but as far as the vivitrol shot goes from what I have read and my doctors told me when I asked about it last year they said you need to be opiate FREE for 7-10 days... not for the subs but for the vivitrol.

My honest opinion would be to consult with the Dr who's care your under because you can get very sick. I mean they already know about your problem, millions have gone through this, so who cares about being a little embarrassed rather than safe? I would suggest telling them EXACTLY what you did and when.

Goodluck, I am sorry I couldn't be more help!
