Undiagnosed strange illness - please help

I have been sick since the end of May this year.

It started off with quite bad vaginal yeast infection (never had it before), UTI, bacteria vaginosis, then 5 days later started to develop flu like feeling with not much symptom but general unwellness, weakness, minor coughs, night sweats, day time chills.

Shortly after that when people are talking to me, I was having trouble with the right side of my brain as if it went to sleep, not able to respond, still have this problem till today. Terrible drowsy feeling at times, it's like the brain is in a very strange state. soon after right arm started to have swollen/pain feeling. Oval shaped light colored patch (about 5 inches long x 1 inch wide) on right upper chest developed soon after and has always been there, no itchy or pain.

As time goes by ache had gone into hips, hands, feet. Then I felt soreness and as if there are stuff filled in my arms/legs. Now this has gone into my back and neck, most noticable when moving or using them, discomfort all over. Leg weakness developed as well.

Sometimes with flu like body aches and low grade fever. Quite often I have scratchy throat having to clear my throat, but not really much phlegm.

I also have numbness in my arms/hands when sleeping, arm has strange full feelings, they are not neuro numbness as I went through a neuro check and was told all are normal. Doing little things could make my arms sore and tightness inside, Sometimes feels I have no blood going through my arm and leg especially if I am lying down.

I have very sore/strained eyes sometimes especially after doing focus work, my right and left eye feel so different (hard to explain here, tight, sore and strained feeling). This would be in both eyes at times.

My brain is so drained at times and it feels it's covered with heavy fog, can't think of anything at all. Lots of strange rashes, some with cuts, bumps in my skin, ear, nose, arms, legs. Symptoms are all over the place. Recently I have bright red straight line on my arm, leg, hands, then it would leave a scar eventually.

Have done all kinds of blood tests, MRI tests, nothing came back showing abnormality. Have gone to all specialized doctors and can't find anything.

Did a lyme test in Igenex and the only band showing + is band 23/25 and some IND bands.

One doctor said I have CFS, so wondering if this is anything like CFS, I don't think so.

I was on antibiotics for some time and it had improved some of my symptoms with my brain and eye, not the physical body.

I am wondering if anybody out there has any ideas, is this some kind of strange infections? Is it worthwhile to go to the Mayo clinic to get a diagnosis? I am worried as it's progressing and I am getting worse over time.

thank you for reading my long post and your help!

Hi, just wondering how you are doing... I tested IGM bands 23-25 positive and 41 positive too. but that's it. I don't know if it is lyme or a false positive result with having had mono before.

I hear you about the progressing. I can't do what I did a few years ago. If it is lyme I think the antibotics need to bet long term.

Calcium and Magnesium in the 1000mg range daily helps with muscle pain for me. Plus healthy diet and no gluten, dairy, sugar or restaurant food which is so hard.

You might want to find a Lyme friendly doctor, there are several in the US. But it's no quick fix and there is so much to rule out...

Not sure the Mayo clinic will help much, a friend went there for CFS and spent a lot of money to come back with no answers.

Thank you luckandlove for the reply and suggestions! Hope things are going better for you. May I ask if you have an undiagnosed illness or CFS? Did you do any treatment with antibiotics for lyme? Thanks for the opinion on the Mayo clinic, it's good to know. I still have no diagnosis till today, yet the only thing has helped me so far is the antibiotics, but it does not get rid of all problems.

    Take care!

Re: Undiagnosed strange illness - please help

I was undiagnosed for a long time, found a more alternative doctor on the CFS friend doctor list. That doctor gave me the official CFS diagnosis which he thought was related to adrenal exhaustion and possibly opportunistic infection include yeast. The lyme test was ordered with many others just to start excluding things to narrow down. Said 1/3 of patients with CFS actually had Lyme. My test came back only IGM positive, so the doctor also gave me a Lyme diagnosis.

I'm not sure about this as at the first visit he said he didn't think I had Lyme and wanted to order the test just in case. It is very possible I have a false positive given I had mono years ago. I might get tested for CMV just to see as it can cause a false positive IGM with lyme and is found in people with mono.

I have noticed antibiotics over time help too but it also does not get rid of all my problems. I'm not sure if the antibiotics are fighting bacteria or if it is just having an immune modulating effect. Diet and rest are huge for me, if I eat only certain foods and eat very slowly, I do better. And I find making sure I eat enough calories also important for Adrenals.

How did you get antibiotics without a lyme diagnosis? I would suggest looking a LLMD (lyme literate doctor) there are many lists online. CFS is only part of it, the real trick is finding out what's causing it, that seems to be a challenge in the medical community.

Perhaps you could get into an Infectious Disease doctor as well as a Lymes specialist to see if there was something that was missed? I have a family member who had to go to one when their unusual symptoms were not being properly diagnosed.

Re: Undiagnosed strange illness - please help

Thank you both for the replies. I have gone to a infectious disease specialist and he just said he does not know what I have and he said all my blood tests are normal and does not know what to make of it. When I told him antibiotics had helped ease my symptoms, he told me not to take too much of it and it can cause serious problems, he gave me a name for a condition of overtaking antibiotics.

I don't have access to a LLMD easily, the closest one is probably 13 hours drive away. I have taken doxy off and on 4 times, each time it relieved some symptoms and changed some of my symptoms, but never got rid of the root problems. I had started having burning eyes after taking doxy, so I had to stop taking it. I am scared of taking it, that's why I am hesitant in seeking a LLMD as I was told they will prescribe to you antibiotics and it's for long term.

My family doc gave me antibiotics to rule out lyme, that's how I got doxy.

Luckandlove, does your symptoms get worse over time? For me it gets to more areas over time, it's almost like every month it gets to a new body area. I feel that I have some kind of active infection going on, but don't know what and how to treat it. It's too bad the blood tests cannot detect this.

    Take care and good luck!

Desperately wanting to get back to my normal self and it's seems very very difficult.
