Body Revolt by Allergies - Any Advice is Welcome!

I have had allergies my entire life (and asthma) and they have both been consistent in severity and symptoms for as long as I can remember: itchy/swollen eyes, itchy nose, maybe a sinus infection, wheezy/itchy chest. BUT in the past year, I have been experiencing symptoms I've never seen before. I wasn't sure what it was, but after months I started losing sleep over the itchiness and went to an allergist who confirmed it was just my allergies. I don't know why they have become so severe and started exhibiting new symptoms, but my eyelids, inside my elbows, armpits, and back of my legs have eczema dispersed on them, I rarely get a full-night's sleep. I recently woke up with red splotches on my upper chest and numbness in my bottom lip. I've become very unfocused, I assume because of the constant itch/lack of sleep. The allergist tried removing the allergens from my diet/environment, which had 0 effect, I bought an HEPA air purifier, I bought a Dyson vacuum that I used through the entire house regularly (my housemate actually does it, so I can give the dust time to settle afterwards before coming in), I have had a full-dosage cortisone shot that provided relief for less than 2 weeks, I am now taking Allegra in the morning, a delayed-release prednisone (Rayos) + Zyrtec at night, but the welts, itchiness, distracted mind, and pretty constant frustration continue. The allergist has recommended rapid immunization, so that's where I am for now. I understand that this may just be the way my body is going to react to life in general, but this isn't a sustainable way to live my life and after managing my allergies effectively my entire life, I am frustrated with the ineffectiveness of all of the doctors I have seen. I am open to any advice that anyone has!

Are you on any medications for other conditions? And did you have food allergy testing? The reason I ask is that eczema is often food related and the splotches are often a drug allergy.

I came down with allergies in 1985 and when I got them, I REALLY got them because I am allergic to one thing after another. Had to give up my theater tickets because of all the perfume people wear. Have had a touch of eczema, but just a touch until this year when it broke out on both feet and one lower leg. Went to the skin man and he prescribed a cream, which I have used sparingly; it is mild cortisone cream. I was told by someone to apply lots of hand cream as well. Have done that and it has really, really helped, but not cured it. When it was really bad, it made it difficult to walk, which was fun. The one thing that I have found about Prednisone, and I have not taken it in months, is that it only lasts for a short time, for me and then I am back to square one. I don't like to take it, either. If it is dry where you live, you may try applying lots of cream to your body. As I write this, my eyes are all puffed and I look like the city drunk, just from allergies-a really nice gene I inherited and it seems to follow me wherever I go!

I forgot to tell you that I was recently retested and I have NO food allergies. So, my eczema has nothing to do with what I eat.
