Thirdhand smoke ruining my life

Whenever I'm in a house or car with secondhand or even thirdhand smoke, I become ill. I get a severe sore throat/nasal congestion, fatigue, brain fog, and chills which lasts for about 2-3 days. My nonsmoking friend recently got a used car and it is full of thirdhand smoke from its previous owner. Whenever I ride in it, I immediately feel sick. Another problem is going to my bandmate's home for band practice. He no longer has a car, so I’ve been practicing at his place. His roommates smoke in the house which affects me.

I feel like the only cure is if I wear a hazmat suit everywhere I go. Allergy medications have proven useless over the years. Any ideas?

Cigarette smoke (second/third) is not an allergen but is an irritant and the reason allergy medications don't work.

The only thing you can do is make your environment smoke free. That means finding new people to hang out with that don't smoke.

You could try QNasl - a steroid nasal inhaler. It has worked for me with chemical sensitivities. A trip to an allergist would be helpful.
