Red face Past owner had a pet.

I moved into a new place but one of the roomates in the past had a pet, which I assumed roamed into what is now my room frequently.

It's a carpeted floor with regular dry wall. I vacuumed it fairly hard yesterday but I do not know if this will resolve anything.

It's definitely after I vacuumed, but it's still hard to stay in the room as is. What else can I try to do...?

The closet is particularly bad. The pet smells are particularly strong (I assume they're pet smells) there, and I think that I need to not just clean the floor but probably the walls.

Is repeated vacuuming just the only thing that works?

Dear tyzantium

I doubt that vacuuming by itself will solve this.

Nature's Miracle Advanced Stain and Odor Remover works very well to spray on walls and carpet. I would add some to water and mop and wipe down hard surfaced floors.

Just spraying by itself might solve your problems.

Re: Past owner had a pet.

It will be necessary to remove the carpet and then wash the walls and flooring with a strong detergent cleaner such as TSP (Tri Sodium Phosphate) from the hardware store.

Re: Past owner had a pet.

TSP is for preparing paint finish so it can be repainted.
It is not an odor neutralizer.

You might want to be very careful not to destroy the paint finish if you don't plan to repaint.

That's great it was all that you needed!
Yes we use one of those vacuums too. They work so well.
