Post Is this normal or not?

Just wanted to know if this is just an everyday occurrence for most people:

- Nostrils always feel slightly blocked, except when I pull on the side of the nostrils or flare them. Is this normal?

- Nose runs after I eat hot, cold or spicy food, or even just the chewing motion sets the nose running.

- It also runs after any movement pretty much. Walking, going up stairs, etc. I must have a hanky on me at all times!

- Cold air makes my nose run a lot.

- When I lie on my side in bed, gravity makes my top cheek relax slightly downwards so I can't breathe through that top nostril.

I have tried irrigating my nose and irrigation/nasal sprays but they either do absolutely nothing or it brings on more mucus or make them even more blocked.

Thanks for your help

I have some of the same problems as you. Nostrils feeling blocked: I started putting Breathe Right strips on my nose at night and it is amazing how it helps. They sort of "pull" your nostrils up and let the air go through easier.

When I eat spicy foods, my nose runs. You should see my dad!! He loves hot mexican food, and his face and bald head will turn bright red and his nose runs, but he loves to eat it anyway.

You might have slight allergies. But if they aren't too debilitating, probably don't need to do anything. If they bother you a lot, you could take Singulair every day or Claritin (or some other antihistamine).
