getting tube in ear

Well, since I got dizzy last year I haven't ever figured out why. Seems after the bad sinus infection I had my Eustachian tube acted up. Well, my sinus/nose surgery was 6 weeks ago and of course I am so swollen from the surgery that my ear seems worse. My ENT suspects ETD and has me doing this manuver at home to try and pop it, but no luck. So, next week he is putting a tube in my ear to relieve the pressure. He says if all I have is ETD than all the pressure will be relieved and the dizziness should stop right than. How great would that be!!! I hope he is right! He is such a great doc and I wish I would have seen him a long time ago and not let that other guy do a sinus surgery on me that didn't help at all. How my former ENT missed my deviated septum and nasal polyps is beyond me! So, next week I could finally be dizzy free! I will update you all. This sinus/ear stuff has been a long road for me and I think it might finally be coming to an end.

Re: getting tube in ear

I have been on the cusp of "may need tubes" for a while now.. I go on & off with my ETD. ETD can cause some real nasty dizziness i've found! Its pretty well controlled most of the time for me by meds, but the days it acts up is miserable. my throat swells up & I can't swallow, sometimes to the point of not even able to take liquids.... not sure why this happens, but it sucks. I hope you find relief soon, you really deserve it! let us know how it goes

Re: getting tube in ear

Thanks, w/me my throat seems tight a lot, but it is my sinuses that are so swollen and iflamed that cause the pressure on my Eustachian tube. I asked my ENT how this can happen and he said the Eustachian tube opening is leads into the sinus passages and airway and he says anytime you have inflamed sinuses the inner ear becomes inflamed as well. Isn't that lovely! Anyhow, I really hope it helps cause my sinuses are killing me this week and I have just about it w/all this dizziness!
