    Anyone here use Astelin?

How do you like it? Is it better than Flonase or other steroid sprays?

I have to say that ALL the nasal sprays lack something as far as I am concerned. I rue the day that they took the Rhinocort inhaler off the market. It was the best product for me that I had ever tried. One sniff and things opened up immediately. I've been under the care of specialists for my allergies for the past 47 years. The ENT I went to for 30 of those years beginning when I was 12, ALWAYS sprayed noxious things in my sinuses every time I went and I wasn't allowed to blow my nose afterward. As a result, I cannot stand to spray anything in my nose that I can;t blow out...so saline is the only thing I'd use...until I got the Rhinocort inhaler. But it was taken off the market and as far as I know it is still off....

    Hi,

I use both Flonase and Astelin. They are both for different purposes. The Flonase helps to take care of allergens such as dog, cat, pollen, dust etc....
The Astelin helps take care of the chemical type of allergies or sensitivities such as cigarrette smoke, gas fumes, chemical smells (perfume etc...)
When spraying the astelin- you do not have to leave it in the nose. You can blow your nose just 2 minutes after spraying it in there. Astelin (if it drips in the back of your throat can make you sick because of its horribly taste!)

    Hope this helps

I use Nasonex and Astein together. I've got to say that I love 'em both! The Astelin does taste awful, but works like a cham for me.

Thanks for the replies guys. It does taste horrible, but I think it is really helping me. I was prescribed it after getting a sinus infection, and it seems things are draining a whole lot more since I started the Astelin. I also use it with Flonase.

I just got some astelin today. For some reason steroid sprays did nothing for me. Anyway I read some good reviews about it elsewhere although everyone says it has a really bad taste to the point of not being able to take it. Well Im going for it anyway. I cant stand my PND and constant sutffiness.

The taste is bad, but it is not so horrible that it would make me stop taking it.

I tried Astilin but the taste was so bad I stopped. I still have some and may try it again with my NasacortAQ, but i am not into the bad taste thing.

Ive used it twice already and no bad taste at all. The thing is you have to stare at your toes when you take it and dont tilt you head back at all for like five minutes. Breathe in deeply also. Hope that helps.

I don't mind the taste; I can stand anything if it works. It does open me up, but tickles my nose something horrible! It's almost like it aggravates my nose. Does anyone else experience this?

So I guess it is safe to use astelin with Rhinoqort (steriod spray)? I have a prescription for this too and I think I am going to use both.
